I finish at 4 today so I fancy a few pre game beers!

How many tickets we sold?

Re: WHU team vs Astra Giurgiu
It's a tricky situation for the club and can understand why they don't want to spend £35k for no return when they have tickets left to sell.

If they commit to showing the games(I know they can't because the BT deal kicks in) then you do risk people preferring watching for free and staying away.

I remember Sunderland doing a cheap deal then going to pubs and asking fans why they stayed away and the answer was no real shock, if people can get something for nothing then a percentage will always take that.

I take it when you mean they are failing fans from further a field & abroad, it's a bitch about them not paying £35k to show the game live?

Totally agree to that side of things but I think they're failing in the way they treat their fans from further afield/abroad. They still treat WHU like a local family club and that's fair enough cos that's their bread and butter money through the turnstiles but they have to realize there is a market for this club outside the London area and more ways of making money from further afield.

They definitely need to if they want to fill that stadium every week, cos a lot of the paying customers will be visitors on cheap tickets.

What better way to do that than to make sure the club/team gets as much coverage as possible

Reid Tomkins and Sakho all out with Carroll?

Wonder how many these will bring tonight

Re: WHU team vs Astra Giurgiu
I was wondering that. I am actually in Croatia and was hoping we might be on telly here given the Bilic connection. I will have a flick later tonight although I expect a Croatian team to be on if anything. Might try and find a stream as I do have a laptop with me!

are we on the telly tonight ?

Re: WHU team vs Astra Giurgiu
if i was billic i would go close to as full strength as we can, so we can leave a few key players here fr the opening game

"We'll never be a global brand under these two. Far too short sighted."

I think that's a very unfair comment NSD. Were they short sighted when they appointed Tony Henry to recruit our players and get around BFS's cosy arrangements with agents that bought us Diarra, Maiga, Jarvis etc?

Were they short sighted when they set a new policy of looking mostly for younger under 27 's and getting away from signing older players looking for a final pay day?

Were they short sighted when they set up an entirely new youth development policy that has shown real young prospects coming through this season?

Were they short sighted when they chased the OS to give WH a massive new home for 99 years?

Were they short sighted when they bought WH with a long term business plan...?

To my mind we are the best position we've been in in all the time I've been supporting West Ham.

New massive stadium and we've been spending a lot of money on players.

Re: WHU team vs Astra Giurgiu
No white knight.

In my lifetime I have seen us reach the FA cup final and in the last few years attract players we haven't done for years.

Still, if it upsets you that much you can support Chelsea.

Also, so you know Chelsea didn't fill their stadium or Champions league games. We did for a Europa qualifier.

Birmingham have never been out of a slump.

Re: WHU team vs Astra Giurgiu
Who do you think started Birmingham's slump and sold them to a crook Zammo?

You seem confused too, what's all this were not a global brand? NSD said we will never be one.

Did your white knight alarm go off and your forgot to read what you were leaping all over properly?
